Lindsey A. Shelp
Lindsey Shelp joined the Law Offices of Fern Trevino in May 2011 as an Associate Attorney. Before joining the firm, Ms. Shelp worked at firms practicing in insurance subrogation and personal injury litigation as well as workers’ compensation, where she developed strong communication and organization skills. She also honed her written advocacy and trial skills by volunteering with the Office of the Cook County Public Defender in both the Felony Trial Division and the Post-Conviction Division.
After graduating from Grinnell College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and French in 2007, Ms. Shelp earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in May 2010, with a certificate in Advocacy. She earned Dean’s List standing in Fall 2008, Spring 2009, Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 and excelled in legal writing, trial practice, and advocacy courses and earned the Gary David Friedman Award for Excellence in Trial Practice in 2010. She earned a Masters of Law in Trial Advocacy from Loyola in 2011.
Ms. Shelp was actively involved on Loyola’s Jessup International Moot Court Team as a competitor and the team’s captain for two years. She continues to assist in coaching the team. In 2010, she was named Best Oralist at the Jessup Midwest Super Regional Competition and was one of the top 100 oralists worldwide at the Jessup International Rounds held in Washington D.C. the same year. Ms. Shelp’s moot court team was awarded the Gary David Friedman Award for Excellence in Advocacy in 2010.
Ms. Shelp is a member of the Illinois Chapter of the National Employment Lawyer’s Association (NELA-IL), an organization comprised of lawyers who seek to vindicate the rights of individuals in the workplace. She is also a member the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, and the American Bar Association.
